VERBIO increased revenues by nearly 260 million Euros and generated a positive result in 2008. Authoritative forecast for fiscal year 2009 presently not possible.

Leipzig, 23 March 2009 – In the financial year 2008 VERBIO achieved consolidated revenues in the amount of EUR 666.6 million (2007: EUR 408.0 million). Due to demand and price effects, revenues were 63.4 percent or EUR 258.6 million over the prior year’s amount. Although the increased taxation of pure biodiesel (B100) in 2008 from 9 cents per liter to 15 cents per liter put heavy pressure on the biodiesel market, demand for bio fuels in total remained stable, so VERBIO was able to profit from the increased sales prices and relatively stable raw material prices.

Preliminary financial statements for 2008: operating result in 4th quarter of 2008 behind expectations

Leipzig/Zörbig, 10 February 2009 – VERBIO achieved a preliminary group-wide turnover of 666.6 million euros in 2008 (2007: 408.0 million euros). The preliminary group operating result (EBIT) is between 13-15 million euros (2007: -257.5 million euros*), so that in either case a positive group result will be reported. Against expectations, the 4th quarter result was behind those for the 3rd quarter of 2008. These figures are preliminary figures before the preparation of the annual financial statements.

VERBIO’s preliminary annual financial statements for fiscal 2007 marked by special non-cash item in Bioethanol – Good liquidity and financial position

Leipzig/Zörbig, 19 March 2008 – VERBIO generated preliminary sales of EUR 408.0 million in 2007 (2006: EUR 446.2 million*). Its preliminary consolidated operating result (EBIT) after special items amounted to EUR -254.5 million (2006: EUR 44.1 million*), the preliminary consolidated result before tax totalled EUR -256.7 million (2006: EUR 38.8 million*).

VERBIO: Preliminary positive operative Group result for 2007 burdened with depreciation and amortisation of stocks in the 4th quarter 2007

Leipzig/Zörbig, January 22, 2008 – VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG has achieved a preliminary Group-EBIT before special items (resulting from first consolidation) in the single-digit million EUR range in 2007. The result will be stressed by additional arising depreciations of stocks of the bioethanol segment in the 4th quarter 2007 between 10 million EUR to 15 million EUR.

In the first half of 2007, VERBIO generated consolidated revenues of EUR 203.8 million. The operating result before special items was EUR 5.1 million, corresponding to an EBIT margin of 2.5%; the operating result after special items amounted to EUR 1.1 million (EBIT margin: 0.5%).

During the 1st quarter of 2007, VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG (VERBIO) generated consolidated revenues amounting to EUR 103.1 million. VERBIO invests EUR 100 million in a bioethanol facility – FY 2006 in line with expectations

VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG plans to build a bioethanol facility in the seaport of Rostock in 2007. The company intends to construct a plant with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons of ethanol. The total investment sum is expected to be around EUR 100 million.
