New delivery alternative for rye
Leipzig, January 25, 2010 – The Landesbauernverbände (national farmers’ union) Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony as well as VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG have acknowledged a master agreement about the delivery of rye. “This contract includes a new opportunity for the farmers to minimize their risks in the pricing and the marketing of rye,” explained Udo Folgart, Chairman of the Landesbauernverbandes (national farmers’ union) Brandenburg. The contracting parties are sure, that this cultivation contracts make a cooperative relationship between the farmers and the biofuel industry possible. With the delivery of raw materials for the biofuel industry, new marketing opportunities let establish.
Some parts of Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have weak grounds, which do not realize good yield with other types of corn than with rye. VERBIO specifically inquires this rye to extract bioethanol and biogas. “For the farmers, this will result with the master agreement in a further, agreed sales opportunity for rye,” said Wolfgang Vogel, Chairman of the Landesbauernverbandes (national farmers’ union) Saxony. The mutual advantages are on hand: planning reliability for the farmers and delivery reliability for VERBIO. The agriculture in eastern Germany is therefore able to cushion the extensive price fluctuations.
The effects of this contract should, also because of the whole importance, not be undervalued. “The mutual control within the supply chain could and will lead to a noticeable reduction of the CO2 emission. Amongst other things this happens by a controlled, integrated and minimized use of nitrogen fertilizer, whereby VERBIO concurrently fulfil its sustainability responsibility,” explains Claus Sauter, Chairman of VERBIO AG.
The cooperation between raw material producers and the biofuel industry have an active contribution to the climate protection. Therefore, VERBIO’s biofuels show up a much higher CO2 reduction potential, as the 35 percent which are required by the EU.
