26./27.11.2007 VERBIO makes an appearance at the 5th BBE/UFOP Congress for Biofuels under the title of Fuels of the Future 2007
VERBIO AG has its own stand at the 5th BBE/UFOP Congress for Biofuels in the Berlin-based International Congress Center on November 26/27, 2007. The conference will be divided up into seven blocks on two days. Claus Sauter, the chairman of the management board of VERBIO AG, will attend the podium discussion at 4:30 p.m. on November 26.
The topic of the congress: It is time to take stock of things one year after the German federal government changed its strategy on promoting biofuels in Germany. What has been achieved? Was it possible to continue the boom of past years as planned or was a large part of this sector deprived of its economic basis? While Europe is agreeing on binding targets for 2020 to give the go-ahead for growth in the biofuel markets throughout Europe, Germany is about to take a major step backwards even though it was one of the global pioneers in biofuel utilisation. Without expanding the market in Germany, there won’t be any technological advancements. Germany’s competitive edge developed over years of painstaking work would be thoughtlessly tossed away, not to mention the enormous opportunities in the export market. How are policymakers reacting to the criticism from various market players? What is the future of the German and European biofuel industry? What strategies are policymakers, automobile builders and the oil industry following? And what strategies is the biofuel industry following?
Innumerable questions that demanded an answer this year at the annual Fuels of the Future congress. 900 persons attended from all areas along the biofuel value-added chain from more than 40 countries in 2006 and they underscored the necessity of keeping a close eye on the developments on the market and outlining recommendations for policymakers and the players in this sector. The joint appearance of the German biofuel sector at this congress has developed into a regular key event on this issue in Europe.
