VERBIO’s facilities are already operating almost completely on the basis of self-developed technologies. To further extend our technological advantage we are currently concentrating on two areas in research and development: the expansion of the raw materials basis as well as process optimization.

The most important raw material for biodiesel in Germany is currently rapeseed oil. Soya bean oil is being considered as alternative. Compliance with the biodiesel standard using these oils is, however, much more difficult. For this reason we are developing processes specially suited for this task.

The next decisive step for process optimization is the energy-efficient utilization of the crop distilling waste from bioethanol production. For this we build biogas plants, whose energy will partly be fed directly back into the bioethanol production. This would lead to an almost completely energy-efficient utilization of the raw materials.
