Efficient use of raw materials
Glycerine is a by-product of the biodiesel production process. By adding hydrochloric acid, excess methanol is first separated. In the evaporation plant, the water content is then reduced to around ten percent and raw glycerine is produced. In a final processing stage, the water content is then reduced to under one percent and all traces of smell and taste are removed. The end product is then pharma glycerine.
Nominal capacity for the production of pharma glycerine is around 50,000 tons per year.
Pharma glycerine is a highly versatile substance which is used, for example, in the pharmaceutical, plastics, food and cosmetics industries.
