VERBIO Ethanol Schwedt was thus able to benefit to a large extent from the experience of the first plant, which by then had already been running for a good six months. It has two production lines and so twice the capacity of VERBIO Ethanol Zörbig. It is also the first bioethanol plant in Europe to be positioned directly on the site of a mineral oil refinery. 

The advantage: short delivery channels and energy-efficient integration. VERBIO Ethanol Schwedt predominantly processes the raw material rye, which is mainly sourced from farmers in the surrounding area.
