VERBIO expands its Management Board and re-assigns Management Board responsibilities; CTO and co-founder of VERBIO, Dr Georg Pollert, hands over responsibilities; Contract with CEO Claus Sauter is renewed

Zörbig/Leipzig, 27 October 2010 – The Supervisory Board of VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG – ISIN DE000A0JL9W6 – appointed Bernd Sauter (41) as new member of the Management Board responsible for purchasing and logistics effective 1 November 2010. Since the acquisition of the majority of shares in Märka GmbH, a purchasing and logistics company operating in the agricultural sector, these activities are set to become more strategically important within the VERBIO-group.

The Supervisory Board approved the request of the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of VERBIO, Dr Georg Pollert (62), to leave the Management Board of VERBIO when his current term of office ends in May 2011. Effective 19 May 2010, the Supervisory Board has appointed the following to succeed Dr Georg Pollert for a period of three years on the Management Board: Theodor Niesmann (42) for the Biodiesel segment and Dr Oliver Lüdtke (45) for the Bioethanol/Biogas segment.

The contract with Claus Sauter, CEO of VERBIO AG, which also expires in May 2011, is to be extended by five years.

The Management Board and Supervisory Board will recommend to the 2011 Annual General Meeting that Dr Georg Pollert be elected to the Supervisory Board. As a result of his successful activities and excellent expertise in the areas of plant construction and research and development, Dr Georg Pollert will continue to contribute his extensive understanding and detailed knowledge in these areas while providing recommendations for action with respect to the activities of VERBIO.
