Biomethane production from stillage begins in Zörbig and Schwedt/Oder (Germany) using Verbio’s novel biorefinery concept, which combines bioethanol and biomethane production.

A demonstration plant for the production of[UK1] biomethane from 100% straw is commissioned in Schwedt/Oder (Germany).
2015
Production of phytosterols from rapeseed oil begins in Bitterfeld (Germany). Phytosterols are used in the food and cosmetics industries due to their cholesterol-lowering and moisture-retaining properties.
2016
Verbio begins its expansion into India.
2018/2019
Verbio begins expansion into North America with the acquisition of a biodiesel plant in Welland (Ontario), Canada, and the cellulosic ethanol plant from DuPont in Nevada (Iowa), USA. Verbio also acquires XiMo AG (Switzerland) and XiMo Kft. (Hungary), which develop metathesis catalysts of technological importance for the production of bio-based chemicals.
2019
Verbio's proprietary straw-based biomethane technology is rolled out with the first stand-alone plant in Pinnow (Germany).
2021
In the USA, the straw-based biomethane plant in Nevada, Iowa—following on Verbio’s German technology - goes into operation.
2022
The first Verbio straw-based biomethane plant in India is officially commissioned.
2023
Verbio acquires the ethanol plant in South Bend, Indiana (USA). On November 30, 2023, VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG is renamed to Verbio SE.
2024
Phase two of the Verbio biorefinery in Nevada, Iowa (USA), featuring integrated bioethanol and biomethane production, is commissioned.

Groundbreaking in South Bend, Indiana (USA), for the planned expansion to integrated bioethanol and biomethane production, following the German model.

Groundbreaking in Bitterfeld (Germany) for a new production plant for bio-based chemicals using metathesis catalysts developed by XiMo.

The Verbio fueling station network for BioCNG/BioLNG in Germany grows to over 30 stations.
