Production site Schwedt (Brandenburg)
VERBIO Schwedt GmbH

The second Verbio bioethanol plant went into operation in August 2005 in Schwedt/Oder (Brandenburg). With two production lines, it had twice the capacity of the ethanol production at the Zörbig site. In 2010 the plant for combined bioethanol and biomethane production was expanded. During the process we obtain high-quality feed and fertilizer, which is fed back into agriculture.

In 2014, the world’s first large-scale industrial plant for the production of biomethane from 100% straw went into operation. This innovative technology, developed by Verbio, enables the production of renewable energy and biofuels from agricultural residues and was supported by the EU’s NER300 funding program. Verbio has since implemented its straw-based biomethane technology at additional sites, including Pinnow (Germany), as well as in India and the United States.
