For cosmetics and pharmaceutical products
More from biomass

From the rapeseed oil used in biodiesel production, we also produce glycerine and phytosterols, which are used in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries to produce skincare and body care products and pharmaceuticals.

Glycerin from Verbio

Glycerin is an alcohol that occurs as a fatty acid ester in all natural fats and oils. It plays a central role as an intermediate product in various metabolic processes. Glycerin can be produced petrochemically, biotechnologically, or as a by-product during biodiesel production. Glycerin is initially obtained as a by-product of our biodiesel production in the form of crude glycerin. This is then refined through glycerin distillation to create high-quality, pharmaceutical-grade glycerin. The resulting product can be used in many different ways in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries – from moisturizers and toothpaste to cough and cold remedies. In Germany, Verbio's glycerin is produced from sustainably grown, non-GMO rapeseed. It is certified according to HACCP standards and is both kosher and halal.

Sterocellent® - Phytosterol from Verbio

Our high-purity phytosterols are obtained from rapeseed oil. They are structurally similar to animal cholesterol, making them an effective plant-based alternative in the production of pharmaceuticals. Thanks to their moisturizing properties, they are used in cosmetic and medical skin care products such as creams, lotions, and ointments. The unique chemical structure of phytosterols allows them to integrate into the cell membranes of skin cells, where they help strengthen the skin barrier.  There they help to strengthen the skin barrier. Due to their anti-inflammatory effects, phytosterols can also be used to treat skin diseases and promote wound healing.
